Champions Queue Returns for Worlds 2024: Exclusive Training for Top Teams Announced
Just about ten days before the Worlds Play-In, Karmine Corp's assistant coach in the LEC, Žiga "Apples" Jereb, announced the return of Champions Queue for all teams participating in the World Championship. Champions Queue is an exclusive, invite-only system in League of Legends designed to provide professional and high-level players with a structured environment to train and compete. Eligible players will gain access to a dedicated server that schedules, tracks, and organizes matches, ensuring they can practice in a highly competitive environment with and against other top players.
Originally introduced in North America in early 2022, Champions Queue was tested globally during Worlds 2022 and has since become a staple at almost every international event hosted by Riot Games. The following groups are expected to receive invitations to participate in the 2024 edition:
- Players participating in Worlds 2024 (including substitutes)
- LEC starting players
- ERL players and LEC substitutes who achieved Challenger rank on live servers in 2024
- Players from Worlds-qualifying leagues attending bootcamp in EMEA
- ERL players and former pros approved by the EMEA CQ player council
- Former pro players with at least two splits in a region that qualified for Worlds 2024
Additionally, selected content creators will be granted streaming access to Champions Queue, though streaming will be restricted during live Worlds broadcasts. For players, Champions Queue typically features integrated voice communications, an MMR system, and a specially designed Worlds-themed public leaderboard.
As Worlds 2024 approaches, more detailed information from Apples is expected soon regarding Champions Queue’s official launch.
