CS2 Tournament at EWC 2026: New Format and Dates Announced

The year 2025 hasn’t started yet, but the first esports tournaments for 2026 are already being announced. On December 30, 2024, the official EWC Twitter account revealed that the Esports World Cup 2026 will take place from August 10 to August 23. The organizers explained that this early announcement aims to give teams more opportunities to plan their competitive season.
It was also noted that the tournament duration will be extended from 5 days to 13, including "team travel, media days, and the main event." This news is a great update for all Counter-Strike 2 fans, but there are already some challenges. The announced dates for the Esports World Cup 2026 conflict with the previously scheduled PGL August, set to occur from August 6 to August 16. This means that teams will not be able to compete in both events simultaneously, or only those eliminated in the early rounds will participate in both.
Most likely, the timing of both events will be adjusted later, as each is significant in its own right. If resolved, top-tier teams will be able to delight their fans with outstanding gameplay at both EWC 2026 and PGL August.
